Just observe and play smart. You don’t need to react anything

Woke up quite early today, drifting in and out of sleep before finally waking up for good, but I slept well overall. Stayed over at a friend’s place last night as he was feeling under the weather. We ate, relaxed, and spent some time together—he just needed some home-cooked food and a bit of TLC.

Tender, Love and Care…

I rode back home from East London, and it was a pleasant journey—long distance, quiet bike lanes, and a great workout. Along the way, I encountered a few interesting people and found myself imagining their stories. It rained briefly, but it didn’t bother me. There were two guys standing by the embankment, one talking loudly while the other laughed heartily; they seemed like they were already having a great day. Then, I noticed a guy in a blue sports shirt and shorts, leisurely riding his bike as if he had all the time in the world. Another cyclist caught my eye—a man with a wrinkled shirt and shorts, but with a neat basket on his bike where I imagined he had his formal shirt and trousers stored, ready for work. A fully uniformed police officer was also biking to work, looking sharp, and a blonde girl sped by on a lime-green bike, barely needing to pedal. It was fun observing these little details and stories on my way home.

Logged in for work from home at 08:50, just in time. I had a message from a friend thanking me for yesterday, Good right on time.

It’s now well past 12:36, and I got caught up for a few minutes watching live coverage of the U.S. elections on YouTube. That was a prediction video, only to realize the elections aren’t until tomorrow night. The way they presented it felt so immediate—sometimes it’s hard to tell if the news is shaping reality or simply reflecting it. You do learn a lot about world events, but I can’t help but wonder why there isn’t more focus on positive stories. Why not spotlight moments of joy, unique experiences that uplift a community, or stories of people encountering something truly magical?

I caught up with my brother about his day at work, spoke to my mother around lunchtime, got a message from my sister in the family group chat, and heard that my nephew returned to his college hostel.

The workday went smoothly. I had a meeting at 11:00 that I’d been dreading, but since I’d completed the work on Friday and provided a heads-up, some tasks for them to complete before the meeting, which saved me from having to explain much—it worked out perfectly. I broke for lunch around 12:30, headed to the gym, and attended an abs class. After a quick shower, I got home and offered my 2 Rakats of Zuhr and Fajr prayers together. At 14:00 sharp, I joined another 30-minute meeting and then made myself a salad for lunch. The rest of the day went well, and I logged off around 17:15.

I took a quick 20-minute nap, then got ready for a swim but decided to go for a run instead. I ran from Piccadilly to Vauxhall, crossing three bridges—Westminster, Lambeth, and Vauxhall. There were quite a few runners out as well, and it was already getting dark by 18:15. Once home, I made some tuna on bread with a bit of salad, showered, and offered Isha, Maghrib, and Asr prayers together. Since I have to go into the office tomorrow, I checked clothes are ready and the shirt is ironed. Now I’m sitting down to write.

Around the world today –

  • In the Middle East, Iran is planning a counterattack on Israel involving more powerful warheads and other weapons, the Wall Street Journal reported. Tehran told allies an attack would come after the US vote but before January’s inauguration.

  • World leaders are prioritizing efforts to reduce methane emissions and prevent its warming effect on the atmosphere, methane discharges remain near the record levels of 2019, largely due to ongoing supply expansion, COP29 talks, and reps from over 190 countries will gather in Baku later this month.

  • Tomorrow US presidential elections.

3 things I felt grateful for today

  • Grateful for this candle on my desk going on for many hours now.

  • Grateful for the water glass which holds water.

  • Grateful wrote something and going to bed peacefully.

What would it take for me and for you to wake up 10 x times bigger, thicker, leaner, more energetic, happy, healthy, wealthy, confident, feeling good, wake up early, make it to workout in the morning, have a good workout, get to work on time, everything to be okay with family, friends and everyone around then have a relaxing, relaxing, relaxing, yet a productive day tomorrow?
