Being alone is peaceful!

Hyderabad
I woke up early today, around 7:30 AM. After some meditation at my desk, I read a few verses from the Quran on my phone and then did some work on my laptop. By 9:10 AM, I took a break and checked the security camera at home. Dad was already up, but the rest of the family was still asleep – my brother, his wife, their adorable 18-month-old son, Mum, and of course, me. A full, happy family under one roof. But no matter how happy we are, there’s always a lingering worry – Mum’s chemotherapy. She looks smaller these days, and her hands and legs feel numb, most likely because of her low blood count.
There’s nothing more painful than watching someone you love go through suffering. The person I love most in this world is my mother, and it breaks my heart to see the changes in her. Just a few months ago, she was stronger. Now, she’s six rounds into an eight-session chemo treatment, and each session brings a new challenge. I find myself silently praying – God, please don’t let anyone go through such pain. Is this what life is? Endless struggles, suffering, and endurance? I don’t ask for myself, but for my loved ones.
Life goes on, though. Dad and I had breakfast – chapati with fish – while I prepared a juice blend of apple and two pomegranates for Mum. By 11:30 AM, Dad and I headed out for errands. First, we met with engineers to discuss adding an extra railing to our staircase. My nephew keeps sticking his head through the gaps, and we’re worried he might get stuck. After booking the work, we went to get the car lights fixed at a nearby garage.
We got home just before Zohr prayer at 1:20 PM. I quickly showered and prayed with my brother. Then, we all sat down for a family lunch – fish curry, rice, cucumber salad, and lentils. After lunch, we relaxed for a while, and around 3:30 PM, I gave Mum a big glass of fresh coconut water.
Later, I found myself lost in thought. What if God was one of us? Just a stranger on a bus, trying to make His way home…
At 5:15 PM, my brother and I went to the mosque for Asar prayer. We arrived late and prayed in a separate congregation. Afterward, the Imam approached us, telling us we shouldn’t have done that as it could distract others from the main prayer. My brother nodded to him said okay thank you, but later he said that it wasn’t the Imam’s place to comment, but I chose to stay quiet. Sometimes, silence is better than unnecessary arguments.
By 5:35 PM, I took Mum to the clinic for her daily B12 injection. It was only a ten-minute drive, but traffic was heavy due to the Shivratri celebrations in Hyderabad. Later, at 6:20 PM, Dad and I went out again to finally get his car lights fixed.
My days are full of errands, work, and family responsibilities. But no matter how professional or important you are—a politician, a police officer, a prince, or a loner—if you have family, you should give them your time. In the end, happiness comes from the people we love. Whether it’s watering plants together or standing next to them while they get their car lights fixed, it all strengthens the bond of love.
And for that, I am grateful. I think I’m in the mood for a poem now…
Praise the Lord
When you wake up in the morning, praise the Lord.
When you wake up in the morning, praise the Lord.
He sets no rules for those who don’t believe,
yet fills the hearts of the faithful with worry and pain.
When you wake up in the morning, praise the Lord.
When you wake up in the morning, praise the Lord.
The Lord owns everything but shares nothing,
loves all but not always the ones who need Him most.
When you wake up in the morning, praise the Lord.
When you wake up in the morning, praise the Lord.
No shape, no form, yet in other lands,
He wears a thousand different faces.
When you wake up in the morning, praise the Lord.
When you wake up in the morning, praise the Lord.
Does He exist? No one knows. Should we believe? Let time decide.
For now, I find my peace in love – in family, in friends, in those who truly care.
And so, for now, praise the Lord.
When you wake up in the morning, praise the Lord.
