London

I got sidetracked with other tasks, and now it’s already 1:21 AM. Time slipped away, and I realise I needed to refocus and prioritize what was truly important. It’s easy to let distractions take over, but I know I should dedicate my energy to finishing the things that matter most before the day ends. Better to wrap up now than to carry the unfinished tasks into tomorrow.

Here’s a question for everyone to reflect on: What is the one thing that matters most to me today, such that by accomplishing it, nothing else will matter tomorrow? For me, that one thing is finishing my paper. It’s a step toward my larger goal, and one day I’ll look back and know that I showed up, fully present in that moment. I will have declared to the world, “Here I am!”—just as I once did in school, raising my hand and saying, “Present, teacher.” Now, I say, “Present, world!”—ready to learn, share, and extend a helping hand to anyone in need, with arms wide open.

Enough rambling—time to check in with me and state of my state of mind right now is good, calm, and alert, even as it approaches 2 a.m. Strangely, I’m not sleepy at all, though my eyes are a bit itchy. Thoughts drift to my parents, who must be waking up about now. I’m so thankful it’s Friday tomorrow, the last day of the week. Just as I think dear father—4 and a half hours ahead—sends his usual good morning prayer message to the family chat. I feel a wave of gratitude, happy to be alive and present in this quiet moment.

Woke up early and started the day with 35 affirmations, followed by a solid gym session focusing on upper body. I did 4 sets of pull-ups on the bar, tricep rope pulls, arm curls, and incline barbell curls on the machine. After a quick shower, I walked back home, climbed the 7 flights of stairs, and once home, I offered two rak’ahs of Fajr salah. For breakfast, I made a banana milkshake, then got dressed in a white and blue checkered shirt with sky blue cotton trousers, a grey jumper. With my laptop and ID card in hand, I headed out for work, walking through Piccadilly Circus.

I walked through St. James’s Park on my way to work, listening to Bloomberg daybreak fm on headphones, walking, walking the beautiful walk and noticed some ducks nibbling on the grass, which made me wonder—do ducks eat grass too? I arrived at the office right on time at 9 a.m. The day went smoothly, mostly filled with training sessions, catching up on emails, and reading. For lunch, I went with a colleague to a nice spot near Westminster and enjoyed a fancy fish dish. I was back at my desk by 2 p.m., responding to more emails and continuing with some reading until the day wrapped up.

Around the world today –

  • World war 3 – Russia Ukraine – Russia launches major counter-attack in Kursk.

  • World war 3- Israel Hamas war – Israel’s army is large by global standards, with about 170,000 active personnel out of a population of 10 million, but it’s having a hard time coping both with the war against Hamas in Gaza and aerial attacks from Iran-backed Hezbollah to the north.

  • China’s 8,700 investment bankers have been forced to take big pay cuts and adhere to other belt-tightening measures under Presidents years-long common prosperity campaign – I think it’s a very good strategy, the whole world should follow this and cut the banker pay and make pay equal with rest of the government employees, civil servants, council workers

3 things I felt grateful for today

  • I’m grateful for living so close to work.

  • I’m thankful for the delicious lunch today, topped off with a great dessert.

  • I’m appreciative of the quick nap I managed to squeeze in after getting home, and happy that I’m still feeling energized.

What would it take for me and for you to wake up 10 x times bigger, thicker, more energetic, happy, confident, aligned to goals, focused, alert, attentive, positive, wake up early, make it workout in the morning, have a good workout, login work sharp, work to go well, everything to be okay with family, friends and everyone around, then have a relaxing, relaxing, relaxing yet a productive day tomorrow?
