London
Time keeps passing, day after day. I remember an old man telling me this many years ago. He was around 77, sharing his wisdom about how quickly time seemed to slip away. Before he knew it, he was 70, astonished at how fast life had gone by. It feels like last Christmas was just yesterday, and yet here we are, already in December again. Slow down! reflect on your goals, be serious and make a plan.. that’s what a mate says, and I said, oh dear, do plans always work? All I’m doing is trying to find joy in the sorrows of life.. Would you blame that?
One month from today, it will be my dear sister’s birthday. As I lie in bed, it’s already 11:45 PM. I spent the last half hour browsing and picking out audiobooks to listen to in the coming weeks. Time slipped away so quickly, and now my eyes are growing heavy. Before I drift off, I wanted to jot something down here soon before heading to sleep.
Woke up early today, feeling rested after a good night’s sleep. Though the night had its moments of discomfort—I was unusually warm, perhaps from the heating kicking in too often while the weather stayed mild. It’s Monday, but thankfully, a work-from-home day. I remember when Mondays felt so dreadful, a looming shadow over the weekend. Time, as it does, has brought change. With this new job, I head to the office only on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The rest of the week finds its own rhythm, flowing more peacefully with the passing hours.
Got to the gym around 08:10, with less time so only did a backup workout which is quick and easy to finish, did upper body 4 x sets of Pull-ups, Incline bench barbell pressed, Dumbell lateral raises, front raises, bicep curls and hammer curls, about 35 minutes, found myself heading to shower at 08:50.. rushed back home just around 9 and logged in straight.
The workday was busy but productive, filled with numbers, spreadsheets, and catching up with colleagues. It all went smoothly. I spoke with my mother in the morning—tomorrow marks her first chemo treatment after the surgery. The whole family is holding her in our thoughts and prayers. May God bless her with strength, good health, and a smooth, painless process. May God extend His mercy to all people on the planet who are in pain or suffering right now, easing their burdens and bringing them comfort and healing.
I logged off work around 4:50 PM, stepping away from one set of responsibilities only to face another—domestic errands and the inescapable tangle of human drama.
Some things and drama of life simply can’t be avoided, no matter how heavy they feel. All one can do is face reality, searching for whatever lessons it might hold, even if they’re hard to find. Later, In the evening, I happened to go on a long walk, letting the cool air and quiet streets soothe my restless thoughts. By the time I returned home, it was 8:30 PM, and the weight of the day lingered, but so did a faint sense of peace.
Tomorrow is the work Christmas party, so I spent some time getting everything ready for it. Now, as the day winds down, I’m sitting here, jotting down my thoughts before sleep takes over.
Around the world today –
A historic moment unfolded in the Commons on Friday as MPs gave their initial approval to proposals aimed at legalizing assisted dying for terminally ill adults.
Ukraine has acquired thousands of armoured robotic buggies to strengthen its front-line defences. (Telegraph)
Dozens of Syrian government troops were captured on video surrendering to rebels after being left behind by their comrades in a town south of Aleppo.
3 things I felt grateful for today
Grateful for a lively and kind-hearted friend, a sweet bumblebee who shares in the beautiful chaos of being human.
Grateful that dear mother will be surrounded by the love and support of family tomorrow.
Grateful that the day, filled with so much seriousness, didn’t weigh me down—I found myself laughing at it all by the end.
What would it take for me and for you to wake up 10 x times healthy, happy, wiser, richer, wake up early, make it to workout in the morning, have a good workout, get to work on time and sharp, everything to be okay with family, friends and everyone around, then have a relaxing, relaxing, relaxing yet a productive day tomorrow?
