Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful day today! It was.
Iโm just heading to bed now, but I want to write about my day so I can remember it later.
I turned on Bloomberg Radio a few minutes ago for no real reason โ just felt like it. Before that, I felt like listening to some classical music. Iโm so thankful for the little IKEA speaker I bought this year. Itโs one of my best purchases. Without it, Iโd be using headphones, which would block out all the quiet background sounds โ the faint noise of the road below, the soft ticking of the window in front of me, and even the squeak of my chair.
Iโm not sure who was playing football tonight, but downstairs, at the Lebanese restaurant on top of Clarges Street, they had the TV on outside. There were lots of people cheering โ and when the match ended, the sudden silence that followed was beautiful. Thereโs something lovely about people spending time together, watching something they enjoy, united around the same thing.
Alright, woke up early today โ around 6:15 a.m. I snoozed the alarm, and the next time I looked at the clock, it was 7:15. I was so happy because Iโd slept really well.
Going into the office day today, and was glad I had ironed my shirt, trousers, socks, and checked everything last night. For a change, I decided to go straight to work from the gym. I left home already dressed for work, with my gym clothes underneath. I got to the gym right at 8:00 a.m. and had a really great workout โ four sets of eleven pull-ups, Bradford presses with barbells, machine lateral raises, machine shoulder presses, and then some ab exercises on the way out.
Showered, then biked to work, and arrived, remembering feeling good. The workday went well โ mostly worked on financial tasks.
At lunch, I ran into an old friend โ someone I hadnโt seen in almost eight years. It turns out heโs been working at the same organisation for four years, and Iโve been there for three. We laughed, wondering how we hadnโt seen each other all this time.
We used to hang out with mutual friends back when Trump was first elected. I remember the day after the election results โ we saw each other at work, said hello, stood there in silence for a few seconds, and then just said, โWell, see you later.โ It felt like everyone around us was also processing what had happened. The same kind of feeling happened again during Brexit โ people naturally connected or divided based on what they believed in. It made me realise that shared beliefs connect people deeply โ maybe thatโs why religions have lasted for thousands of years.
Got home from work around 17:45. I had booked a swim slot for 18:30, but didnโt go in the end. I changed my mind after getting ready โ it just looked too dark outside or did I just procrastinate? The weather is changing, and it starts getting dark now around 17:30 or 18:00 max.
Nothing particularly special happened today โ just a normal day. Donโt really know where life is leading, but just keep doing one task after another, trying to do each one properly, hoping that if I do things right, everything will work out in the end.
Now that the day is ending, Iโm not even sure why Iโm writing all this. It just feels right to do something thoughtful before bed โ to reflect on what went well, what I could have done better, and whether things turned out as I hoped for myself and the people around me.
That was my day. And if youโve actually read all the way to this point, think about this: Whatโs one thing you can do right now that would take you a step closer to your ultimate goal? Whatโs one thing so important that if you do it, nothing else would really matter? Choose your next task with this thinking.
Around the world today
Russia and Ukraine war: Russia is increasing its drone, glide-bomb, and missile attacks on Ukraineโs energy and gas infrastructure, causing widespread power outages and forcing Kyiv to import more gas before winter. (Reuters)
Israel and Palestine war: A fragile ceasefire is in place between Israel and Hamas, with the recent release of 20 living Israeli hostages in exchange for nearly 2,000 Palestinian prisoners. (AP News)
Artificial Intelligence advancement: DeepMindโs AlphaEvolve has independently created new algorithms and improved optimisation methods โ showing how AI is now advancing theoretical science. (TechRadar)
Three things I was grateful for today
I was really happy and grateful to bump into my old friend โ weโve both come a long way.
Feeling grateful right now, just sitting here and writing these words.
Happy and grateful that this weekend is my dear brotherโs birthday. Love him so much!
What would it take for me and for you wake up 10 x times bigger, thicker, leaner, muscular, more energitic, confident, happy, grateful, wake up early, sharp and healthy, make it workout, have a good workout at the gym, everything to be okay with family, friends and everyone around, then have a relaxing, relaxing, relaxing, yet a productive day tomorrow?
